Waterfall in the Luech

Water plays an important role in the Gard. First and foremost as prime necessity of life, in summer sometimes scarce. But the Gard also edges the Mediterranean. The many rivers and brooks, almost evaporated in summer, can have a destructive power in winter. Land can get flooded; bridges can be made to collapse.

A River like the Ceze can have a water level enabling people to gently paddle, whereas it can feed a waterfall like Sautadet 20 kilometres downstream. In summer the Céze is a nice place to hike with a canoe. 20 minutes from Mas Bernadis you can find spots in small brooks and rivers, where you can swim. Even in August these spots are not flooded with people.
